Well, I’ll start by saying that I haven’t built a model car since I was approx 10. I though about trying it again everytime I passed to model section in Wal-Mart, but never actually bought one to start. This past Christmas my 10 year old son received a Revell 2004 Corvette Z06 Commemorative Edition. He doesn’t seem to be too interested in doing it, so I asked him if I could have it. He said sure, but only if I build it with him.
So, now I’ll be trying to complete my first model in 21 years! Hopefully my son will enjoy the process and start building more in the future. I’ll be keeping it simple, no airbrush, putty, etc., just the basics.

This is similar to how I got back into the hobby. My 11 yr old son wanted to try building models. I had been thinking about getting back into it, so we picked up a couple of kits. Started off with rattle cans and a handful of paints and brushes and one hobby knife. Now I have an airbrush, spray booth, dedicated work space, numerous specialty tools, clamps, lights, and a growing (at an alarming rate) stash of kits.
By all means keep it simple, but beware the styrene drug, it’s powerfully addictive! [:D]
Good to know, but the difference might be that I was 10 when I built my last models and trust me when I say, they weren’t anywhere close to great quality!
Looking at all the fine work on this sight, I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to do the same!
