1st model for 2006

I decided to start off a little on the small side for the new year. I just finished a 1:288 scale SR-71 that was labeled on the box as 1:144. It is 4.5 inches long and the full scale is 107 feet 6 inches long. It is actually fairly accurate, especially for such a small scale.

Holy cow thats one little blackbird! Looks good!

Nice job on the wee little guy.

Regards, Rick

Well 4 and 20 of those would most definately fit in a pie.

Very nice job. Any pics of the cockpit?[;)]

Dont Sneeze!

Wow that is great work. I dont think I could work on such a small scale.

Darwin, do you have space on your shelf for her?[}:)]

Thad

That’s pretty cool. It would be a fun build to make a nice Christmas tree ornament…

How many pieces make up the blackbird.

Darwin:

Oh how quickly I would ruin something that small with my clumsy hands…

I admire your ability to work on something so tiny…especially one of my favorite planes. Nice looking Blackbird!

And I thought 1/700 scale ships were small …

Thanks deattillo, Rick, Marc, TAdan, Thad, Leon, mucker & mfsob for your comments. The wee little guy consists of 25 plastic parts and 16 decals. I added a little detail such as adding a pilot, (his head is visible in the side shot), opening up the Pilot and RSO hatch windows and filling them with Micro Crystal Clear, thinning out the exhaust edges and flattening out the circumference of the tires. I WAS considering making ejection seats, but common sense and reality won out. Working in this small scale is rather challenging for these 63 year old eyeballs. [}:)] [:D] [|)]
