remember your scale, that barbed wire is HUGE, the barbs would almost be the sizeof a person’s arm. Use a SMALLER size wise, like, really small, and the barbs would be alot closer together at that size.
Try and use some variation in your terrain, not just one color green, one color brown. Check this, for some terrain inspiration /forums/1068199/ShowPost.aspx
As far as tips on the camo netting- I would use some kind of glue/wax to coat the material after you cut it to keep it from fraying the way it has on some of the edges- and before that drys- you can also use the glue (probably not the wax) to hold down some kind of fake/real vegitation the Germans would have added to the net to make it look less net-like
You could even weave tissue paper strips into the netting for the same effect (all in theory, something I’ve wanted to do but haven’t gotten around to)
I agree with smeagol though, it is getting better- just remeber to keep things in scale and add a lot of variaty into the ground work.
My two cents’: build for yourself and don’t be too concerned about what the rest of us think because the rest of us do exactly the same thing: build for ourselves.

P. S. I agree with you: the camo net isn’t quite right.
I think the tank itself looks awsome…camo is nice! Is there a gloss to it or just the light? I have tried to fashion barbed wire from wire…very tough, it was always too big! I had to settle for Eduard photoeched…did the trick. The camo netting is on the right track, I use medical gause but I paint the whole thing by tacking it to a board and air brushing. I also use dried herbs (My Lastest was peppermint) to add the camo…gives it a little more depth. Keep it up[tup]
Hello, try this for the barbed wire. Get a window screen and very carefully cut on both sides of a single wire. It will bend into any shape ( strait , coil it like a rope, corkscrew it, large for on the ground or small for on a fence ) It’s not perfect but it’s not bad.
Theres also a good tutorial on how to make it, and make it look REAL on this site somewhere, but I cant remember where, it was in someone’s dio.
You would take a wire, the right scale, and string it out how you wanted it, then take another, the same size, and twist the barbs, put some glue on the barb so it stays, then do another, untill it looks right.
For barb wire take some dark color invisible thread (its a plastic, not a cloth). Spot superglue where you want to barbs (very lightly and tiny). You would not be able to see the barbs in this scale, so a tiny bump gives the impression on the wire of the barbs.
Tamiya suggests in their kit to tie two strings of thread then cut close to the knots. The knots would still be out of scale even for 1/35 IMO. A true barb on barbed wire is about one half the thickness of you pinky finger in real life.
I think you have made some significant improvements to your dio. Even though the wire you used may be out of scale, just attempting it is a cool idea.
Couple of things I see (other than the wire, since I think you got plenty of feedback about that).
-Take a look at your photos. Two things jump out at me: the first is that the inside of the muzzle break is not painted - or it is painted in grey. Either way, it really stands out because it is so stark.
The second is your grass. It is still way too mono-chromatic. If you don’t have any other colors of static grass (or whatever you used for it), spray some different shades of green and brown to mix it up a little. If you don’t have an airbrush, use washes. Just do something to break up the uniformity of it.
bbrownii, thanks for pointing things out. Yhe muzzle is indeed not painted, missed that one. I 'll do some washes on the grass. I wanted to put some real dirt there but everything is frozzen outside plus few feet of snow. Thats my excuse…[:-^]
Stern0, the paint is not gloss, it is the light plus the reflection of the flash when it is pointed straight towards the model.
Thanks all for info re. barbed wire and the cammo net. Will improve.
