1962 Ferrari GTO

My all-time favorite race car. Years ago, I could swear I saw a 1/12 scale plastic kit somewhere. Anybody know of it? If not, what’s the biggest scale available today?
Thanks for any help.

Chris

Revell did have a 1/12 GTO some years ago, I don’t know how accurate it was. From the looks of it in pictures I got the impression that it was to long and narrow, but I may be wrong. Never the less it’s a wonderful car!

Probably my favorite car of all time. That and the GT-40.

Thanks, guys. The web site is great. Now that I have started this–I think 1962 was the best year for Ferrari cars to marry function and beauty. Do you know of models of the F1 cars as well?

i have an 1/18 Burrago kit of the GTO,
pretty basic, but a great looking car.

The 1/12 Revell kit is actually of a GTB, rather than a GTO. Both Aurora and Italeri have put out GTO kits in 1/24. The Aurora kit has been reissued by Revel, I think, but the Italeri is by far the better kit.

It’s correct that Revell had a GTB, but some years ago they had a GTO to (actually a diecast) so it’s possible to have both machines on the shelf. I found a one on Ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=7316&item=4207636801&rd=1 have a look on this gorgeous car, it isn’t as bad as I rememberd…look good enough to me.

The GTO must be just about the most beautifully shaped auto that ever existed.
The 288GTO was also a real stunner.

OK, I didn;t know about the diecast. It does look like a decent model.

Renwall originally produced a 1/12 Ferrari 275 GTB, then Revell aquired the molds and released it in the early 80’s I believe. The Revell issue is known for having thinner plastic and suffering broken windshield posts from it’s thinner box.
They do show up on eBay every so often, so keep your eyes open!
