hi all, I am trying to figure out what Green to use on Valkyrie’s 1960-70 era bundeswehr wank crew. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Can you post a photo of the figures please? If it is the uniform that I’m thinking of, that was more of a gray tone wool, sort of a field gray with a brownish hue. The later 80s one before Flecktarn was more greenish gray in cotton.
Ok, those coveralls are the cotton material for the shell. It’s like a lighter field gray, similar to Tamiya RLM Gray. The beret is made from the brownish gray wool material
Thank you! Would Vallejo World War II colors work for this?
I do not know. I do not use Vallejo paints.
What do you generally use
Humbrols are my first choice for most any color. If they do not make the proper shade, I will go from there to the various enamels and acrylic brands. Part of my choice will be determined by the subject and whether I’m hand brushing or airbrushing. As far as Vallejo goes, I have some, but I am no fan. Insuring that they are mixed properly is problematic in my experience due to the bottles. I also do not care for their usual tendency to not give proper first coat coverage. For airbrushing, after reading about the need to add flow enhancers and other things besides thinner to get best performance and results, I have opted to pass on them for now. I could go on, but I’ll leave it at that.
Fair assessment i too have had issues when i fimeat started air brushing. I found out that you can only use their product or else it sucks. The model air is a nice touch though and helps with not having to buy so much enhancer. I do not care for the fact that i need to use a good base before i paint with them. I used to paint my primer as an Italian brown but now I’ve switched to a hull red but it doesn’t do to well without an actual base color. But that’s my only complaints. I will say i do like their paints for uniforms and figures, but i did notice that Andrea makes a nice quality paint set and i am itching to use it on some uniforms to see if the shadows and lighting i really that amazing.
