1953 Hudson Hornet

This is a Moebius Model kit, i love there kits. Lots of details, they give you the original colors for the car and time period. Forgive the rubber bands, for some unknown reason the body kept popping off the frame. Opinions please, good or bad, helps me improve more

Too bad about the body and chassis problem, but overall it looks pretty good!

Hey BigSparky, I love these Moebius kits as well. Built the '54 Hudson back in September. I like all the chrome. What kind of paint did you use for the hood and body and how did you apply it? Looking at the back ground you have a well stocked bench. For the trim that is blue you could try a silver sharpie to bring it out. Now, I cannot paint a straight line to save my life, so for body trim I will place masking tape above and below to help me keep it straight. It’s a good start and i do like the color choices.

MCW Lacquer paint, chromewas Tamiya paint, the White is Vallejo paint. A lot of taping.

Thanks for posting on your 53 Hudson project. I have to say that engine turned out great. Your engine color and paint detailing are nicely done. I have been using chrome foil for the bright work on my 50’s era subjects and would recommend trying it. It takes some practice, but you may find some good results. There are some YouTube videos on the topic to demonstrate how to apply it. Also, I have used floor wax to shine up my finished projects (where a shine is desired). They used to call it Future Floor Polish, now its marketed as Pledge Revive floor polish. It can be applied over the windows and on lightly sanded surfaces. It works well to help protect/seal decals too.

Check with Model Roundup or Mark Twain Hobby Center (online) for the chrome foil. They should have some. Any discount store should have the floor polish.

Click on the Bare-Metal Foil tab. Readily available in most hobby shops, as far as I know. A few you tube vids out there on how to apply it. Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Mark
