1949 Mercury

Anyone ever put together the Ertl brand of the car model of a 1949 Mercury? I bought one yesterday and its the kind where you can customize it by putting it together as a regular 1949 Mercury or turn it into a street hot rod. The model even comes with accessories like a little telephone to put on in the front seat floor and even a little tv.

Also just wondering if the Testors blue tube cement glue is compatible with the Ertl car model pieces since the Ertl car model brand they’re larger and a little thicker

I built this one years ago.I do believe I painted it metallic red.

You shouldn’t have a problem with the glue.

WOW, man–I didn’t think ANYBODY used tube glue any more!

Why don’t you use liquid glue? You really do get a cleaner, better joint.

I’ve always used the blue colored tubes of Testors cement glue. They’re good to use. Liquid glue I dont think my state sells that for car models. Just Testors cement glue.

i’ve yet to build my 49 mercury.

i use ‘tamiya liquid cement’ and it’s very good. i buy it off ebay and they ship it (from HK no less).

Still a good kit for it’s age. best built stock, ( I even turned one into a converitble). If you want to go custom, the newer revell kit is much better for that application ( mild chop, much nicer period custom parts).
