Here is my latest project I have been working on, it is a fictional what if post 45 king tiger. It is still a work in progress as I plan to do a simple diorama of abandon tank being over run by US troops. This model is a many first for me, the first what if panzer, the first red primer paint job and a first for showing a tank thrown together with different parts to make a functional tank. The one area I am not happy with are the tracks I used, their from hobby boss. They have great detail, but pull to one side during assembly and made alignment a real pain. I am looking at replacing them with fruil tracks instead as I can assemble in one run and eliminate the alignment problems. The kit is pretty much straight from the box from dragon’s Ardennes kit with bits and piece pulled from their porche zimmerit kit. The IR set came from great wall and the ir electric box on the rear hull was scratch built. I wanted to paint the model showing an ad hoc vehicle in different stages of painting and parts pulled from other tanks to hast it in to the field for the fight.
Thanks everyone for the comments. Just something at little bit different to add to my collection and help add some interest in my builds. Alot of artist license was used during the build, but I tried to keep in lines with what might have been built with what was known at the end of the war. The numbers I do beleive were pretty much not used anymore, but wanted to help break up the turret and add some life to it.
For the green I used tamiya xf-13 ja green with a bit of xf-26 deep green mixed in for the base. Then a misting of vallejo model air field green to fade the paint some.
If the question is “What if?” Then that, sir, is the answer to the question. I love the spills, and the immense variety of colors and textures. The only problems in my eyes are the pin parks on the tracks hung on the turrets, and the breaks in the tracks that are visible in the first and second pictures.
I like the idea of a repair-facility tank, different parts to make a whole. I have something like this in the works, actually…and I hope to pull it off as well as you have.[Y]
Thanks everyone for looking and saying great things. The exhaust shrouds came from an old IR panther from shanghi dragon that I did a few years back. They are a resin part that came in the kit I broke off to recycle for this build.
