1944 Group Build?

For the past two years Sub Revolution ran very nice Group Builds themed 1942 and 1943. Unfortunately for all, he will be taking a break from the forums here it appears and with the 70th annivesary of 1944 just a few weeks away, it seems like we have no 1944 GB in the making at this point. Is anybody interested in participating, and/or running such a GB?

I am defiantly in for taking part. I know more of us have a lot on, and I have several GB running or due to start early next year. But I don’t mind taking on another if anyone want to help co-host, just to ease the burden a bit.

I’m participating as well and I hereby offer my services as a co-host!

I would love to participate and thanks for volunteering. I have very little time these days and it’s a struggle to keep up with my current commitments. I love the “year” theme of the builds.

Well, if all the big dogs are looking to start a GB…count me in too!

I’m new here and didn’t get in on 43. I’m in for 1944.

I’ve done the '42 and '43 builds, so I wouldn’t miss the '44. I’m in.

Well, since Weeknd Madness ends in a few days here I can help run it as well. I am certainly in for 1944.

Definitely in for '44. I still have to finish up my '43 build, but it’s coming along.

like eagle90 said. i can do a badge if you want.

Sounds like this is a go then. Now we just need a badge. I think we should stick with the nose art theme Sub has used. I don’t think the pin ups were from WW2 but more modern images replicating WW2 pin up’s, does anyone know where they come from. I will have a go at a badge, but not sure I can do it to the same standard as Sub did, so if anyone else things they can do a decent one, it would be much appreciated.

If you do an image search for pin up art, vargas girl, etc. you will find many suitable (and some not so FSM suitable) images…

Ok, will check that out.

wayne, if you could knock one up as well, that would be great.

Ok, found this one and straight away it felt right. I think its appropriate seeing as its 1944, I can leave out the writing if you like. And its not to saucy.

More sauce please![:P]

I have always been a fan of the original WWII master of this artwork, Mr Vargas

Did’nt Mr. Vargas also do some drawings for PLAYBOY too. His name sounds familiar from somewhere besides his WW2 drawings

Yes, his work was published as centerfolds first in Esquire and later Playboy magazines.

Uh…I’ll second stik’s ideas. Just sayin’.

I have been messing around with the middle for a badge, but nothing decent yet, I just can’t seem to remove the image from the background properly. If anyone else can come up with something, that would be great, in the meantime, I will keep working on it.
