1930s Ford Model A Phaeton - WIP

I’ve made a start on this kit from ICM:

Main part of engine painted TS-2 dark green:

And progress on the frame (which has way too many delicate parts):

Looks like a fun one, are you following the box art or doing something different?

I won’t be following the box art. Going to use some photos of restored Model As, including the one from “Road to Perdition.” Right now I’m thinking British green and black for the body, wheels either light green or yellowish and maybe beige interior. I’ll do some experimenting and see what works.

The engine is basically finished. It still needs some little touchups, but since I have a knack for turning small blemishes into large ones I might leave it as is.

I’ve assembled as much of the undercarriage as I could (54 parts, many of them tiny) so that I can paint it all together. The brass rods are in lieu of the thin plastic ones that came with the kit.

I wanted the hubcaps to be convex, so I filled in the hole with a piece of sprue, glued it, whittled it down and sanded. I kind of like the final result.

Now that is impressive!

I’ve been working on the body and the interior. Today I got the body on the frame. It’s starting to look like a Model A!
