This month is the 100 Anniversary of Art Hartman’s flight. He was the first Iowan to fly an airplane in the state. Art built the plane just from after seeing pictures of a Bleriot.
Frame work from .030 X .030 styrene strip. Rigging is 2# test fishing line. Engine came from parts of an ‘O’ gauge air compressor. Prop is a re-worked from a Piper Cub. Wicker seat made from brass mesh. PE spoked wheel from Tom;s Model Works.
5X magnifying lense, good ruler and a I guess a good eye. I’d have never been able to pull it off without the magnifying, my 52 year old eyes are NOT what they used to be.
