As you may know, I hosted the “Big Contest” about two weeks ago to decide what model I would be getting. wipw won the big prise of my eternal gratitude with his suggestion of the Famo 18 ton halftrak, and progress is comeing along very well. I need some suggestions however. Should I leave the engine inside of the vehicle, and keep the engine sides down, or should I leave the engine out of the vehicle with the engine sides up? I also need some suggestions for a good paint scheme, and any tips are also appreciated.
I am also building Dragon’s 3 in 1 sdkfz 251 d version kit. Should i go ahead and build the 251/9, or work on my first ever scratchbuilding skills and make the 251/22? I already have the pak 40.
-Thanks Guys----- Cheers!
I like the look of the 251/9, and it would save some time, and with the 251/22 kits now on the market I wouldnt bother. But it would be neat to say, " I scratched all of this this and this" at a competition.
as for the famo, I havent built the kit yet, but I hear that the firewall is blank. If you leave the engine sides up, you might need to show some minor details on the firewall. If you kept it down, youd lose the detail of the engine but less work. On this one, I’d leave the engine sides up and laeve the engine in.
just my[2c]
the best thing to do is try the engine in and see what it looks like with the sides up and then try it without the engine
I’d keep the engine in, do some minor detailing on the firewall so it isn’t completely blank, and leave the engine sides up.
