Way to go Jack. Those are some very cool projects you have going.

Great work Jack. Did you drill or motor tool the windows out on the C’s saucer?

Matt

Great job on all the ships! Opening all those windows must have been a real chore.
Love the detail on the Runabout.

jack it looks like you have two great projects going. look forward to more progress.

Thanks folks! To answer your questionson the E-C saucer, I started out with a Dremmel using an index drill bit (forgot the size but it was small) and eventually went out and bought a pin vise to drill the holes manually. The dremmel is good for only one hole at a time becasue the slowest speed still melts styrene to the bit. This is bad news becasue the next hole you drill gets even bigger and oblong.

The pin vise worked nicely with the index bit. Long work but worth it. How was it done you ask? For a rectangular window, the worst of any, tap a hole on the top and the bottome of the rectangle. Then, if the window is large enough and requires such, tap a hole in the middle. Gently work the bit in a back and for sawing motion to eliminate the remaining portions of the window. I then took a flat jewelers file to “true” out the windows. After apporximately 1100 of them, you get the hang of it. I know the top saucer has 792 windows taken out of it…and yes there are windows remaining which will be darkened with paint. I went overboard on the windows on this one. But I’ll tell you this, she makes one heck of a night light.

As for the Runabout, I keep getting ideas for that one. This one will have flashing navigation lights and fiber optics on the flight deck instrument panel. Now if I can only get the phaser effect to work
