12 Yrs. Married and the F4 Phantom II

Been married 12 years as of Oct. 12th, and what do I get as a gift? Modelling the F-4 Phantom II by Ospery Press. Who cannot love a woman who will purchase this even if she thinks your are going through a second childhood. LOL. I have been building mostly armor. So I go to the local HL and buy not one but two F-4 Phantoms. Academy 1/144 scale and the Accurate Miniatures 1/72 scale. I think I am hooked line and sinker.

Sounds like you got a keeper! my wife refuses to contemplate any gifts for me that are hobby/model related! I think she ahs some jealousy issues there![:O]

LMAO…An Osprey book on the Phantom!! How good is THAT?

Don’t worry about the second childhood thing - child’s play? I don’t think so…have a look at the sort of things that Shepard Paine and Gerald Wingrove make…absolutely awe inspiring…and if you don’t aspire to their great heights, if you enjoy it, then it’s all good.

Congrats on the 12 years, mate!! Here’s to 12 more - at the very least.

12 years is quite a milestaone in this day and age…Congratulations. What a nice gift, too. Just make sure she knows that despite all of the kits you have, she is your only “model” in the house.

That’s awesome! And from her perspective, it’s a whole lot cheaper than the little red sports car and big chested blonde to boot…[;)]

Couldn’t have put it better myself.

My 10 year is coming up this Friday, Oct. 17th. My wife gave me my gift early: A 1/48 scale Academy F-86F-30 with the “Mike’s Bird” marking. She picks the kits based on how much she likes the box art. She’s never picked a bad one in all this time! LOL!

Eric

She picked a great kit, Eric. Some women have good taste, eh?

Thanks for all the comments and yeah she is a keeper. As far as the book a great way to start a modellig library if you don’t have one. Congrats on the upcoming 10 years Eric. We ben together since 1992, married 1996 did not have a fight until 2002. Enough on that. Any idea on the F-4c/d this is my first aircraft?

Jeff

Congratulations on your anniversary and “keeper” wife. There are so many different possibilities for C/D model Phantoms as to be nearly endless. There are lots of aftermarket decals for the 1/72 scale, but not too many for the 1/144.

Congradulations Jeff!

Sounds like you guys see eye to eye on things, which really makes life a lot easier, for both of you!

On Halloween, Lisa and I will celebrate our 31st… where in the world did the time go! We have three daughters, all of which are happily married, and amongst them they have given us seven beautiful grandchildren; I can see Lisa’s sparkle in all of their eyes… which makes me smile even when things get tough.

Here’s to the WIVES![bow][angel][bow]

Take care,

Frank

So true! Here I am pouring over internet and magazine reviews of current or upcoming kits and she just goes and picks one off the shelf based on the the box art’s “coolness” factor. LOL!

Does anyone know if that Accurate Miniature F-4 is a reboxing of Tamiya or is it entirely new molds? Either way, I heard it was supposed to be a good kit. If I can get my hands on one, I’m going to do it since I’ve always wanted to build it with those markings. It was for Col. Robin Olds’ “Scat” if I’m not mistaken, right? I’m not much of a modern jet guy but the Robin Olds Phantom has some nice history to it.

Eric

The AM F-4 is a repop of the old Monogram 1/72 F-4. I’ve built this kit before and it’s a good one, builds up real nice.

Congrats to all on the anniversaries. Mine is also on the 31st of October Frank! Makes it easier to remember when its on a day that everybody knows!

Kevin,

That is so true; it’s our fail-safe method from EVER just forgetting about an Anniversary! <B-D

Take care, and ummm… happy upcoming Anniversary!
