So the tractor is strong & the gun not so much eh?

Good to know as the gun sells for around 80$ CDN @ the LHS.

These two monsters together …cool ![H]

Looks great so far!

And I’ve loved that huge Soviet gun ever since I saw it in some footage of the Red Army over-running Berlin. Dang what a brute! Am going to have to pick one up eventually no matter how poor the kit may be. Looking forward to seeing you build yours up.

Well its been a week of working on the Gun. I have the Tractor complete and ready for paint, The tractor is really a shake and bake kit, falls together.

The gun is really a beautiful kit but between bad fitting parts and flash it is slower going. I got the guntube done and was surprised that it took two evenings to get the barrel right, lots of Humbrol filler thinned with humbrol cement.

Well on with the pic’s.

The carriage so far, this is a bit fiddly to get straightened, thet locating tabs are very loose so getting everything lined up is touch and go, the easy way out was to assemble the front axle which is in the final stages of constructtion and use it to secure the front of the carriage ensuring proper alignment. This assembly beside placed behind the tractor gives you a 16 inch model, so it will be bigger with the barrel.

The spade in travel mode.

The bottom of the spade required a lot of filling.

The limber assembly.

Some of the detail on the carriage, there is no shortage of detail so weathering will be a pleasure, even drybrushed lightly to bring up some rivets.

The detail on the ammunition winch, its a beauty.

Thanks to every body who replied and I hope to update ASAP.

P.S. I found this on Prime Portal, a brilliant reference work on the B4

THanks for all the replies, well appreciated. It’s been a kinda slow process getting the howitzer finished/built.

I am almost there and I must confess that while it is a mixed bag of nuts, excellent in parts and almost east european in others, but all in all an excellent kit. Slightly expensive though.

Well on with some pic’s.

The whole so far. about 13inches.

Those tracked front pontoons, apparently only used for short trips, a full wheel set replaced them for long hauls and the gun was broken down.

Not too much to comment on the rest.

Ooop’s , seams, seams… days of work sorting out bad fitting seams.

The rifling is photo etch and just slots in after a brief annealing, I mean it fits perfect…

Two nights fixing the seams on the breech, just terrible.

Thanks Steve forgot this one of theh Breech, terrible piece of kit here…

.

After all the fillling was done it looked great, now for paint this week some time weather permitting.

Terry.

Looking very nice there Terry.

By the way, when i start my Maus, i will give you a shout. You will be well practiced at wheels by then.

Nightmare Bish pure nightmare.

Terry.

Sometimes i wounder why we do it. Just have to keep telling ourselves that this is fun.

Right fun Bish it’s fun, a friend of mine dropped off the two accurate armour porsche tigers the hinter and the vorne, I can imagine those being fun alright. filthyest kits I’ve ever seen.

Terry.

I didn’t know accurate armour did those.

fancy another 1,000 road wheels GB.

With an Italeri Elefant, plastic card and a huge pair of you know whats…oh don’t forget nearly £100 sterling each as well. If you check the AA site look for them they are… just look its funny.

Terry.

Got, i know the sort of kits you mean. I was looking at some of their Panther AA turrets, sopposed to do them as a kit with tamiya Pantehr hul… But haven’t seen them on their for ages.

I thought I’d get one kit from the two but no, missing bits filthy fittings horrible tracks, the turrets are obviously Tamiya copies and filthy, it would cost more to fix than they are worth 24 Carat Crap. the Hobby Boss kits are a fraction of the price, with beautiful turrets.

Guess thats why AA are getting ride of them now. Those Hobby boss kits do look nice, but not on my radar at the moment. Will be nice to see what you do with those kits if you do decide to build them.
