101st Airborne 1/6th scale lotsa big photos

There is nothing like finishing a project for putting you in a better frame of mind. Well finished is a relitive term, I am awaiting some patches from a very tallented modeller, so Alex isn’t quite finished.

First some bits.
I really like this M4/M203 combination. I repainted it with a combination of dry brushing and oil paint washes.

Finally got a set of hands painted so that I like them. They were base coated in acrylics and finished up in oil paint.

After many trials and tribulations I managed to find a hobby shop that carried Testors Dullcoat, sometimes its hard to find the basics in Australia, so I could flat finish Alexs’ headsculpt. I repainted the headsculpt in oils.

Four veiws of the finished figure.

This is my first seated figure and I’m pretty happy with the way he turned out. Alex is mostly box stock except for his aftermarket, (Toy Soldier), boots. I’m hooked on these boots but geesh they’re a pain to put on as they lace up like real boots and are a very snug fit on the figures foot but look so much better for it… I stuffed the bottom of his trousers with cotton wool to get semi-decent blousing. Also used the cottom wool to pack the legbag and other pouches as it’s not as fluffy as that wierd nylon stuffing that Dragon uses and can be ‘molded’ into shape. I had to butched the hip joint of this figure to get him to keep a sorta squating pose. And I used some homemade sand bags to give him a seat. I didn’t weather him much at all to make a change from my other figures. This post is a little picture heavy as I’m trying out new ways of taking photos. What do ya think?

Hope you enjoy him and thanks for looking.

One more for the ladies. He’s a dapper sod isn’t he?

Very impressive Dan.

Nicely done Dan. The weathering on your M4 is very realistic.
