Now one issue i have run into, and it is in part an issue of my own making technically, is the clear parts. I dont know if i got a bad batch of clear resin or this is one of the limitations of 3d printing but the one clear part turned out on the yellow side (also its not as bad IRL as it is in the photo). So i will see about picking up some clear purple or violet tomorrow as i already needed to get some more primer.
Resin will yellow with age, and clear resin period will yellow even faster. Stands to reason that 3d printer resin would have a similar issue. Assuming of course its not a case of I got some bad resin. Regardless its something I will just have to work around, yeah it would have been nicer to get crystal clear prints, but it is what it is.
Unfortunately no, different chemical reaction at play. The only other option than using a clear purple to cancel out the yellow would be using Retro Brightening. Unfortunately the cost and time frame would be such that it would not be worth it.
So i applied the clear purple, technically clear violet, and this was the result. This was sprayed following a coat of clear gloss to act as a primer. While the result is not what i was exactly looking for, ended up more red then i thought i would get. Ultimately it ended up being what it is, i knew I would very unlikely hit the exact shade needed to cancel out the yellow so this would do.
It was then I had an incredible run of luck. The clear blue that i had, which ironically was not the one i intended to use, produced fantastic results. The blue had the tiniest bit of yellow in it giving it a slight shift to green. This was exactly what i needed as it shifted the final result to almost exactly what i was looking for Now all these pieces need is a sealing gloss coat and they are good to get assembled.
Continuing with her skin i built it up from shadow to first highlight. I then debated doing it, but ultimately decided to do it, but i finished working on her skin for tonight with adding a light shadow back in. This was in part because she was looking a little too monochrome and had lost some of tones from the reds and pinks. This was also done to help add a little more depth back into her skin. Will finish her skin tomorrow.
Next i decided to work primarily on her flight deck. I did the zenithal the same time i did the skin tone’s for convenience. This was then based in a dark blue, letting the zenithal do it’s job of providing tonal variation between the upper and lower surfaces. Once dry i came back in and sprayed the flames a medium blue. Will come back in with drybrushing to further accentuate and build up the flame effect. While not puctured I also painted her skirt using the same colors. Will grab a photo of it tomorrow as well.
Finished up the main part of her skin tone. There are a couple of pieces that I am planning on doing sone additional thing to, but that requires some time for the paint to set up before I proceed.
The other part I worked on was the flight deck, more specifically the flames. First up was a heavy drybrushing with light blue, filling in the majority of the fire.
