So it’s my understanding that there is an old mold and a new mold in their 72nd offering…of course Hasegawa is notorious for the number of pops/reboxes from a single subject…so how can you be sure you get the latest sprues of this subject when you buy one???
I don’t think they use the old mold. But easiest is to look on Scalemates. They have a timeline feature on thousands of kits.
Do you mean old/new mold, or detailed/basic?
I’m not sure of the ages of the molds, but Hasegawa have one kit which is just the basic plane with movable geared swing wings.
Then they have another mold which has a lot more detail and options as well as PE. It’s generally twice the price of the other (at least when i last bought one it was).
I don’t know which one is the newer/older mold, but the last “detailed” one i built was terribly cast - it was full of flash that needed quite a bit of cleaning up.
Ok I did some digging. Old Mold is from late 70’s. Raised lines. Good model easy build. New mold is from late 80’s. Almost double the parts but more finicky to build

Oh the Minicraft Hasegawa kits are all raised line old mold
The newer 1/72 Hasegawa cats are little brothers to the 1/48 scale and have just as much detail with lots of parts. The new Revell 1/72 cats are simpler to build and have tons of details and are cheaper.
