Well I decided to re-paint an old friend of mine ,
this was the second kit i built after my 23 year break from modelling , and I decicec she needed to be done in the original color of white ,
she’s been painted in ''halfords white primer out of a rattle can ’ , it went on so easy
I’m waiting to see if i can get a bomb bay plus the blue steel nuke missle from airfix ,
plus also a new set of decals ,
here’s my progress so far
Looking good, Sean!
One of my faves, too! Have you ever seen (and heard) one fly?
Looking good so far Sean. Love the Vulcan.
Sean,
Looks really good - and from what I can see - you don’t seem to have lost any surface detail as a result of several coats of paint. Did you strip the old paint off or just go over the old paint ?
Chris
Cheers everyone
JHULK , yep seen these birds fly and hopefully next year XH558 will be gracing British skies again
BOSSMAN , I totally stripped all the old paint off with oven cleaner , I used white primer to repaint her , took all of 4 mins start to finish , and the white is awesome
Looks good Sean. Keep us posted.
Regards, Rick
I might have a Blue Steel in my box that I won’t use (can’t remember if my kit had it or not).
Let me know if Airfix can’t help you out.
Very nice, Sean! One I need to add to my 1/72 bomber collection. - Calvin
Looks good so far. WANT MORE!
The Vulcan is one of the truly GREAT aircraft. I had the priviledge of seeing one do an air show performance in 1979 at Andersen AFB, Guam. AWESOME ! ! ! ! !
You have definately done justice to the plane.

Great work Sean! I love the look of those plpanes. I’ve been wanting one myself for awhile. Looking forward to seeing it finished.
Looking good, Sean! I’ve always loved the look of the Vulcan, especially in white.
Sean - when you say you’re after a bomb bay & blue steel, do you mean the recessed bomb bay doors? If you strike out with Airfix, drop me an email, as I’m going to scratch build an open bomb bay for mine, and I should be able to let you have at least the missile, and possibly even the bomb bay part if you’re desperate.
Actually, I’d not thought about the bomb bay doors - I suppose I’ll have to scratch build them, as the kit parts have the recess for the blue steel missile… bugger! [;)]
Cheers guys
Mikew , i think theres 2 different sets the one that originally on this one was the ordinary bay , i had the kit which had the recessed for the blue steel ,
buy it got thrown away ,
but i’ll see what they come up with , but if you fancy doing youre one in white ,
the hafords white primer is awesome
Hmmm… interesting Mr Bond. You mean if I contacted Airfix I might be able to get a bomb bay and standard doors to use as the basis for my scratch build? That’d save a lot of work!
I’m in contact with one of the Vulcan restoration trusts, and am thinking of going down to Leicester to see XH558 up close & personal for a donation to the trust. As the fiancee loves the Vulcan, there’s no problem with that, and she’d come along! It’d help me get the info & pics I needed to do it justice.
cool great now they got funding , next year in the air [:D]
have you tried the flightpath sets they do for these
heh - yeah, they don’t call me Mr aftermarket for nothing [;)] Looks pretty good from what I’ve seen, but doesn’t go anywhere NEAR the bomb bay unfortunately. I like Flightpath stuff, and the guy that runs it David Parkins is good too. Really helpful & polite.
He’s had some good business out of me over the months since I came back to the hobby, 1/48 A10 update, 2 x 1/48 B-24 updates, 1/72 Vulcan update, 1/72 Herc update, and soon the 1/48 Herc update. They’re very good quality frets, but they’re NOT for the faint hearted! You really need to have a bending tool & plenty of patience, but as he says on his website, they’re not for beginners - don’t tell him I am, please! [;)]
[(-D][(-D][(-D]if he sees mine , i hate to think what he will say , !!!
maybe i’ll buy another one of these later on and get his set
Looks great, keep us updated!
