1/72 V-22 Osprey?

Now that they are finally starting to enter service I was kind of interested in building a V-22, but when I started looking around for a kit, there don’t seem to be any in 1/72.

So is there a kit and if more than one has been done, which is considered “better” for a current V-22?

Thanks

ESCI did one many years ago. I’ve got one in the stash, which I must have bought well over 10 years ago - the shop from which I bought it has been shut at least that long. I can’t speak for scale accuracy, but it looks the part well enough. It’s been re-popped at least once by Italeri, but isn’t in their present catalogue.

Cheers,

Chris.

I have both the ESCI and the testors v-22 kits in 1/72 scale you can find them on e-bay I got both of mine for less than 20 bucks

Italeri also had one. Most likely the Testors reboxed. Best bet is to find them on Ebay. I haven’t been able to find the 1/72 as easily as the 1/48.

Negative. Testors kits are in fact reboxed Italeri kits. Testors has never made their own kits, they’re all reboxed versions of other kits, mostly Italeri. So the Testors kit in 72 would be the reboxed Italeri kit. Which is, I do believe, in itself an ex-Esci mold, as it is with many of Italeri’s current kits. Either way, they can be found relatively easily.

Whichever boxing you find, my understanding is that the kit represents an early/prototype aircraft, and is nowhere near an “operational” version.

EDIT: Or has it been updated since?

That too. I don’t think it has been updated either. I any event, those kits are the only game in town.

Ok, thanks.

I guess if I run across one cheap I will pick one up. Hopefully since it is now operational and the only kit is of an early version someone will get around to doing an up to date Osprey.
