1/72 Special Hobby TT-1 Pinto U.S. Navy Jet trainer

I like to build something different once and awhile, Special Hobby make a lot of kits to fit that category.

This aircraft is from the Naval Air Test Centre, Patuxent River, Maryland, 1958.

I think I am out a bit with the colour (Trainer yellow), I used a 50/50 mix of Tamiya XF-3 flat yellow and X-8 Lemon yellow. The kit decals set great with some micro sol.

I realized I forgot to paint the nav lights in after taking photos.

Nothing to flash, but adds some colour and interest to my 1/72 display shelf

Nice, Grant. The color looks good to me, we had one at the A&P school I went to in the 60’s.

That’s a beautiful build, the color looks great! I especially love your collection.

I have not seen that before, it looks really cool, love the yellow.

I also like your super etandard in the background …

wonderful to see this kit done. It was the first model kit I ever bought and built as a kid, I had the version made my Aurora or was it stromberg, I did recently aquire a unbuilt original kit of it. You may inspire me to build it. It’s what started me in the whole hobby, can still remember sitting at the kitchen table with news paper spread around gluing it together.

Oh the memories!
