1/72 scale Nakajima Ki-44-II Shoki

I finished this Hasegawa kit tonight. I covered it with bare metal foil and then sprayed the camo with Tamiya paints. Weathering was done by scraping back to the BMF. This version was flown by Major Saitoh Kantong of the 85th Sentai in 1944.

Beautiful work, Dan!
The paint over BMF worked like a charm!

It looks great, thanks for the pics…

That is gorgeous! I’m liking all the Japanese planes these days. Was it difficult applying all the BMF? The weathering worked real well. How easy does the paint adhere to it? Masking? Thanks again for sharing your great work.

Thanks everyone!
The foil went on easy. I did large sections at a time and burnished it on with a nylon sweep. The Tamiya paint stuck well to the BMF. I could chip the paint off easy while the paint was tacky, but hours later, it was a bit tougher to do. I haven’t tried masking to BMF because I’m afraid the tape might pull it up. If someone has done this or has another technique, please share…!
