1/72 scale MPM Curtiss Ascender

Here are some finished photos of MPM’s upgraded kit with resin cockpit and main wheel wells, and some PE. The kit required massive cleanup from flash but fit up good. I cut off the canard antennae and used .011 dia. old guitar strings. I used Tamiya paints and did some preshading and washes, and drybrushing to beat it up a bit. One problem I noticed was the vacuum formed canopy started to lift off on the left side after painting. I used Testors Clear Canopy glue and a touch of thick curing CA to bond it on…Darn!

Any suggestions appreciated…
Thanks for looking, Dan

Nice model of a somewhat rarely seen aircraft. Well done Dan. Thanks for sharing.

looks great.
Looks alot like the 1/48th kit.

Your “a send er” or “ass ender”, depending on how you want to pronounce it, looks very good. Curtiss made three of those things and tested them all at Scott AFB, just east of St Louis. They crashed two of them and the third one wound up in NASM’s Paul Garber Storage and Restoration Facility in Siver Hill Maryland. This summer, it was transferred to the Kalamazoo Michigan Air Museum where it is scheduled for complete restoration and then static display.
