1/72 scale LHD markings

Hey guys,

Found a great idea for a 1/72 diorama base. I found 400 grit waterproof sandpaper that is the same dimensions (roughly) and color for non-skid… Problem is, I don’t know the dimensions of the “helo spots” on the LHDs. I have plenty photos of the markings themselves, but nothing with anything to match the scale… if anyone has a 1/700 scale LHD could I get the measurements of the “L” the spot markings have? Just height and length, I know the markings are 6" in width, and I know the angles of the middle line. Any help would be appreciated.

THANKS.

BTW, this is for Hasegawa’s 1/72 scale AV-8B Harrier II Plus in VMA-231 markings.

Here’s my first attempt, using paper cutout and a few drawings from NTTP 3.04-1. I think the scale is just about right…

Can’t help you with dimensions, but I’d say your diorama’s off to a great start.

Here are my newest versions. I cut the templates for the spot and the warning line markings into sheet styrene (a joy unto itself) and then applied to the sandpaper… Here are some progress photos:
