Let’s hear it for all the fantastic 1/72 Armor kits coming out!!! Hey FSM, how about some articles on 1/72 Armor. Anybody else feel the same way?
I do . I like 1/72 scale armor. Takes up less space , and most of them are decent kits.

" PERSEVERANCE "
They had an article on modeling the King Tiger recently. But yes, I’d like to see more small scale stuff. I’m surprised that they did not do a build up review on the Eduard/ExtraTech Sherman series. I’ve got a few (ExtraTech M4 early and M36 Jackson and Eduard M4A3) and they are nice kits with plenty of spare parts.
I’ll second you, however they only have so much space. What might be nice is a kit review section of this forum where people could submit their own reviews. THen you would only have to do a advanced search to find a particular review. They could have a armor and a airplane.
But all the great new kits is fantastic.

Yeaah,my main interest is 1/72 armor and I think that would be great for some articles…
But better, (Why not?)a special magazine full of 1/72,1/76 models and dioramas!!![:D]
Minitracks out of France puts out a bilingual magazine that just deals with this subject. While it would be nice to see more 72nd armor in FSM I doubt that they will release a special mag on it.
I’ve been saying this for years! I think they only put out on article every five years on 1/72 scale Armor. They seem to be unaware, or unconcerned with the large quantity oif new kits out there by companies like ACE, Dragon/DML, PST, and even Revell/Germany. There has been a veritable explosion of 1/72 scale Armor, yet FSM has been unusually silent through it all.
Hey, if they want examples, I have over 420 armor kits built in 1/76 and 1/72 scale. If they just let me know what they want to shoot for an article, I’ll be happy to make them available!
[#ditto] 1/72 scale rules!!! I too would like to see more articles on the subject. In their defence they do a fair number of 1/72 scale work bench reviews but yes, more articles on how to build in 1/72 scale like the recent king tiger.
Duke: take the picture the pictures and send them. Don’t wait for them to ask!
Hey they are a business entrerprise and probably 70% of all builders are 1/35th for armour and 1/48th for Aircraft. So you have to see it from there point of view.
There have been reviews very good ones in FSM. What more ticks me off is the biases you still see in the model community. Where a very good modeler will look down there noses at 1/72
Revell and laterly Dragon have really opened up 1/72 armour and as to companies like PST, Mirage, Extratch/Eduard and UM and were in a golden age or 1/72 armour.
I have posted so many pics of my workhere on the Forums, especially the most recent projects I’ve done. They had to have seen them. If they want them, well, I’ll be happy to send them directly. It’s not like they don’t know what my work looks like!
But yeah, I should!
Actually, I have noticed a lot of respect from my fellow modelers when they examine my 1/72 scale kits. Many make comments that the detail I add is as good if not better than a lot of 1/35 scale kits at the shows.
A 1/72 scale PIO Models Bergepanther Series 0 I entered in a local show took second overall in a special armor model category (all scales). This is basically the Revell Panther A/D kit with a resin/PE conversion added. It is not so much the scale as it is the workmanship presented. I was beat out by an outstanding Bergepanther in 1/35 scale though. It was really, really nice.
Good points Rob. The Harvey Low Katbash article was very good. Shows that with just a couple extra small strips of brass sheet and brass wire, you can really make a good braile scale kit.
Another thumbs up for 1/72 and smaller scale. I have and still build the bigger ones now and then. I have even done the 1/16 stuff , but I always come back to the little ones. I think it is fun to detail out the little guys. I have put dash gauges in 1/144 SdKfz 251’s and sparke plug wires on 1/72 built engines. Its cool to see the look on some of the 1/35 builders when they see the working steering , tracks and opening top cover on a 1/72 MG 34 gun… Charles
Long Live Small Scale Armour. Price is Right. Easy to Make. Easy To Paint. Fits in your pocket. . Whats not to love? God Bless 1/72 scale. I find I can fit more into a diorama too. I can also easily mix and match planes and vehicles. VIva 1/72 scale armour.
Oh bye the way [#welcome][#welcome] HQ72Resins. so your hooked on 1/72 too huh? Keep em comming brother.
This scale is great when you are limited on space to display them. They kits are getting better in detail and quality.
I thought your Dragon? Sturmtiger was very good and it did have lots of detail.
I think in most cases, we are loyal to one scale. It seems 1/72 airplane builders usually only build the same in armor. Personally I prefer the greater detail in 1/35 and find it a comfortable scale to work with. Yes, it does take up more space. That 1/72 King Tiger was very well done and I’ve seen some fantastic work here in that scale. I’m looking forward to all the1/48 work that is bound to show up when the kits hit the shelves in quantity. [:p]
