Okidoki peeps and peep-ettes…
Here´s an update on my zimm test Panzer IV… Not too happy with the camo, but still fairly happy with the zimmerite, I reckoned I´d just go to town on the weathering… so behold, a well biffed Panzer IV in the making. Still debating on adding the unit markings though… Comments are welcome, as always, but bear in mind I´m testing various things on this rig.

I like it a LOT…! Adding the markings would also mean re-doing some weathering… I’d leave as it is. It’s superb! Are you going to Trucks’n’Tracks at the end of Feb…?

Is the Zim Lee Press On stuff, is it part of the kit, or did you do it yourself [:0]?
I did the zimm myself… I have a pair of tigers waiting to be built, so I thought I’d experiment a bit. I went out and got an inexpensive kit I could hide from the missus, so I found a 1:72nd scale kit. What I did was use liquid cement and a screwdriver. I painted the hull with the glue, waited a moment for it to work into the plastic, then pressed the screwdriver into the soft plastic, creating each and every single zimm-thinggy. Awsome, I gotta remember that camo scheme, its hand painted right? I might try something similar to get a feel for cammo jobs. I only done one in my life and it isnt very good.

Anyway, I was looking at pics of panzers on the net, and saw that a lot had coursly sprayed or hand brushed camo, of which no two are the same. I figured that a course faded edge wouldn’t show up on a model this scale anyway, and by brush painting it, it added to the hand painted improv look. Also the consistency fades here and there, like on a large rush job. The skirts took all of 5 minutes to paint in camo. Another reason is that the finest lines I can squeeze from my cheapo airbrush are about 1/3rd to 1/2 inch wide. The over enthousiastic weathering hides a lot too… Gotta love armour modelling [:D][:D] My favorite bits are the inside of the turret skirts and the 3/4 front views…
As for the camera angles… That was just hit, miss and cropping in photoshop…
