so i am getting ready to start this kit and had a question about the photoetch set…
on the cockpit side walls there are random do-dads to attach and was wondering if adding a piece of sheet styrene to the back of some would give it more depth…
here if the diagrams and i was thinking about the more square panel type items…and what would you suggest for thickness…i think there is .05-.10 and .15…

also i have this canopy and was wondering if anybody had any good ideas on cutting it into the different sections…all info is really appreciated…

If you add styrene to the PE cockpit walls, you will make them too thick. The look great just done as per the instructions. Adding a wash will bring out the depth if you still think it needs it. I just finished a P-40E using the same Eduard PE set.

I agree. The idea of using PE is to make the kit parts look thinner. To give the appearance of real steel, so to speak. As for the vacformed canopy. The key to using them is Patience. Your best bet is to fill the inside with poster tack or the like, and use a Brand new exacto blade. Dont try to cut it in one but do several passes. As for cutting the thing apart. There should be refs in the sqadron box as to which bits open where. Hope some of that helps.
A good site for all manner of helpfull info is www.swannysmodels.com Its helped me in the past.

thanks guys…i guess that makes sense…
roguepink2 were those exausts in the kit?..mine is the hasegawa minicraft kit and is a little older…the exausts are not so great…oh yeah…it is an N model…
The exhausts are stock, but its the Academy kit, so a bit different in some details. The exhausts on the N are quite different.
