Doing something this week that we don’t do that often and are looking at a kit in a different scale than what we previously looked at. Hasegawa’s 1/72nd scale B-47 kit is our subject matter this time, a kit that is 2X the size of the Academy kit.
I have built both the Academy and the Hasegawa. The Hasegawa is an old mold so is light on cockpit/engine/wheel well/bomb bay details like a more modern kit would likely have, but it’s a good kit. It builds easily and looks good on a shelf, or in my case, hanging from my workshop ceiling.
It very much is a kit with a little aftermarket TLC will be amazing
I put the Pavla Cockpit and canopy in this one, also the resin engines. I wouldn’t bother with the engines next time as the fit wasn’t that good and the Hasegawa parts aren’t that bad. Also some 3d printed flaps which were very difficult to work with.
Beautiful build. Impressive Paint job.
Such a pretty airplane. I am a little surprised that there is no 21st century kit, just Hasegawa’s old 1970s rendition. They recently reissued the kit with 3-D printed RATO bottles.
Agree, very much in the “Needs a new version done” category.
I have this kit in my stash, with the Pavlov engine set, passed on the cockpit set as it didn’t seem any detail it might have would really be visible(now that Pavlov is OOB).
With a $60.00(USD) price tag, just for added 3D printed RATO bottles, and possibly a “new” decal sheet, seems to be a ‘bit’ overpriced for a 40(±) year old kit that’s NEVER been updated-other than decals, and is available (on the secondhand market) for around $25.00-$40.00, depending on issue.

Beautiful build of a gorgeous plane. I have “bagged” Hasegawa kit in my stash and always wanted to build a 1/72 display of U.S. bombers(B-17,B-24,B-29,B-47,B-52,etc)
