1/72 French Dragoons

Hello Folks,

First time posting here… I hope I can contribute more of my work in the future. :slight_smile:

This is my 1/72 scale French Dragoon from the Napoleonic War. The kit is from 3 boxes of Italeri French dragoon set and I built it pretty much out of the boxes except changed few head positions and adding side muskets. This project took me about 4 monthes of continues daily painting exercise to complete. During this time I have learned alot about blending and small scale painting. Although there are multiple of the same poses I try my best make sure each individual figure is unique in some way so there are no exact same figure. As for the the accuracy goes it is not 100% as there are minor parts of scupt which does not agree with my historical references, therefore I had to make some asthetic adjustment.

I also want to thank my girlfriend for her support as she is a fantastic model builder too and excellent QC for my project.

Great work on the braille scale figs! The bases look excellent as well. Love the grass, quite a few people struggle to make it look right including me. Thanks for sharing and by the way, welcome to the forums![t$t]

Excellent work!

The individual bases are a neat idea yet I am wondering why the beveled edges?

If done with square sides the scene would fit together almost seamlessly.

How are you planning to display the collection? Also individually or as a group these will place very well in a contest.

Unless I missed something I believe you should add shoulder straps for the muskets.

@Smeagol, Hey bro! Yeah after all these years I finally made an account lol~ It’s good to finally be here!

@SuppressionFire, thank you. I like the bevel edge so I can display the horse as single piece. I guess in my own opinion it looks “classy”. Another reason is that I use the game workshop base so I don’t have to bothered with cutting. :slight_smile:

I’m not a wargamer so they are displayed in my glass shelf. In all honesty I’m beginning to have space issues lol~

I did add shoulder strap to all the rifles. They are the white strip you see under the rifle like the below reference:

Good to see you again, thought you just posted the 3 posts and left, heh. You should post some of your old gundam work over in the scifi forums, we dont get much of it over there, mostly battlestar galatica, starwars, and startrek
