I picked up this Albatros awhile back, I don’t usually get into photo etched parts, but it was a good deal and being one of the profi-pack kits it includes a fret of PE parts, so I’m going to use them.
I don’t know what you people did who are into the PE thing, but you must have been bad people in a past life. [:D] This stuff is making my eyes cross, and some of it is too small for the tweezers to hold onto, but I will admit it does spice up the cockpit.
I am happy to find that I think I will be able to see a lot this work after closing things up.
Hans, tape is a great idea, I’ll keep it in mind. I didn’t have this issue with the Special Hobby PE with the F3F, but the Eduard PE is thinner.
Mike I remember your D.II did you get it finished?
I’ve done D.IIIs from Roden and Revell, but this is my first Eduard kit and D.V. It comes with 4 sets of markings for both the D.V and D.Va. Since both of the D.IIIs I built had a varnished wood fuselage, I decided to go with a red and white D.Va from Jasta 18.
The D.II is really close. I ordered a second kit so I could repair the damage I had done. I did the fix up and have the top wing on. Now I need to do the outer struts and rig it. I will try and post a pic or two tonight or tomorrow.
I got some more work done. The decals are very fragile, but luckily I was able to match up most of the breaks. My D.IIIs both had varnished wood fuselages so I decided to do a red & white Jasta 18 aircraft this time.
