1/72 EA-6B Prowler

Here are some pics of the 1/72 Hasegawa EA-6B Prowler I built a year ago. The only aftermarket items that went on this bird are the lo-viz decals which, unfortunately, proved to be extremely effective.[sigh] All of the other details, including the cockpit and seats, the access bays and the wingfold, were made from scratch.

Comments most welcome!

WOW! That is incredible! All that detail and in 1/72! I take my hat off to you sir, you have a great talent. Please show us more of your builds. Darren.

Very nice. But you need to get work keyboard checked. Seems when type a “3” it come up as “7” so it looks like you said 1/72[;)]

OUTSTANDING BUILD !!!

I always want to do a build with a lot of the panels opened like that.

SWEET !

Bud

The only way to describe the Prowler is " OUTSTANDING ". That says it all. The weathering is exceptionally well done as are the bays and access panels. Keep up the god work

Allan,

Absolutely beautiful! And this is a 1/72 scale Prowler? Wow! I love all the maintenance bays open, you did a remarkable job. How long did this project take for you to complete?

Great work on the Prowler. Looks like a whole lot of scratchin.

Regards, Rick

I am speechless. Excellent work.

Gumiflex

top notch! I really like it, and as a 1/72 scale modeler, i like seeing all 1/72 planes. Esp. when someone does such a nice job.

Joshua

Truly outstanding, looks like the real thing.[tup]

It took me about 3-4 months to build the Prowler. Which is just as well, I wouldnt have to worry about overcrowding the model shelf. [(-D]

Thanks, guys! Glad you liked it. Here are some of the in-progress pics of the Prowler:

OUTSTANDING!!!

What did you use to mask the canopy?

Allan,

Since all the appropriate superlatives have been (fittingly) used above, all I can add is [:O] [wow] !!!

Brian [C):-)]

[:O][wow]…Beautifully done!

That looks amazing! Great job!

My vocabulary simply does not contain enough superlatives to adequately describe your work! Congratulations on a truly outstanding model.

Darwin, O.F. [alien]

Thank you all for the kind words. [:)]

Albert,

I used strips of Tamiya masking tape for the canopy.

Exquisite work. The question that comes to my mind anytime I see a model airplane treated this way is “why?” Why take a beautiful shape and break it all up with multiple open panels? It makes a fine engineering illustration, no doubt. Personally I’m drawn to model airplane building because I love the shapes. I can’t imagine even folding the wings on a Navy job. An F-102 or F-106 with her missile bay open and innards hangin’ out? AARRRGGGGHHHHH!
