Not for the rivet counter - raised panel lines and few other innaccuracies I’m sure
Resurrected from the discard box - This is my Italeri B-25H in 1/72. I started this kit back in 1998 and lost interest becuase of the poor fit and the scale (this is my first 1/72 effort). This kit required a fair amount of filling and sanding but after sticking with it, it turn out pretty well. I had some issues masking the canopy, wich was a bear in 1/72 for me. I used AM decals from MPD. The markings are for the ever popular 10AF/12BG out of Karachi, India in 44. Weathering was done with pastels and progressively lighter coats of faded Olive Drab.
Yeah the 1/72 was a challenge for my clumsy fingers too.
Joe, the support is temporary but I used styrene tube with one ende planted in the bottom of the aircraft and the other in a large wooden mandrel that I use for replica full-sclae 18th century artillery sabots. The end of the rod in the airplane is a smaller diameter than the exposed portion. I will post picks of the entire rig this evening.
Steve O, you are right. A lot of these older kits may have their short comings, but if you use your bag of tricks one can usually pull it off. I’m happy with the results especially when I recall that I payed under $10.00 for this Italeri kit and the new H’gawa is going for around $30.00. Although I wouldn’t mind building the more accurate H’gawa!
Ray, if ever I saw a build that required no apologies, it’s this one. She’s a beaut. I remember when Testors issued this kit as a PBJ in the early 80s. It doesn’t quite work as a PBJ-1, since there’s a little more to making a PBJ than just painting a B-25 blue. But you definitely took a mediocre kit, and made a silk purse from the sow’s ear. Thanks for showing it to us.
