1/72 Academy T'Bolt finally done (pic)

Hey y’all,

It has been a while since I posted here, hope everyone is doing well. So the “super detail” project on the 1/72 T’bolt is finished. It was fun and challenging, I know it improved my skills. But I will not be doing another for a while, back to the OOTB. But, I was considering using this as a diorama centerpiece. Other than Preiser who makes a 1/72 US ground crew?

I left some of the details off because either they were beyond my meager skills, too small or a combination of both. The carpet gremlin got one of the resin gun sprues so that is why the starboard bay is empty. The sludge did get away from me in some areas, reference around the tail[banghead], and the canopy frame still needs a little flat coat.

It is the Aires detail set of PE and resin. One strange thing was there were no bulged tires(?!?). By the way the gun sleves are not white, matte aluminum, the camera flash made them look white.

Criticism always welcome…

Nicely done Joe. Looks like your skills are improving a lot.

Regards, Rick

Sheesh joe!! where have you been? haven’t seen you post in ages.

That’s a great looking Jug there Joe. I’ve always liked the looks of the Razorback over the bubble top. 1/72 scale PE!!..Oooooh! my eyes! I really like the open cowl and gun bays and You’ve done a great job! The only thing I’d add is to dirty up the engine and gunbay to match the weathering you applied on the airframe. Still…that’s a great looking model.

Freezin’ in Ahiya,

Jerry

Thanks Rick and Jerry!

Jerry, I have been caught up with work issues, you know this thing called a real grown up life. I was going to bang up the engine and bays, but after my stumble with the sludge I got cold feet.

Joe, great work with some really tiny AM parts

Criticism…I wish I could do something like that! Very nice job.

Only criticism I have is why did you only post 1 picture of that great looking P-47? [;)]

Nice work- love to see more of it!

Nice work Joe

Thad

Really a nice job, looks like a 1/32 model.

Wow, and you call your skills meager ??? That is a great model you’ve got there, can’t say it’s pretty though, the Jug just isn’t my kind of plane, but you made a heck of a model.

One advice though, nothing to do with your build, but use a tripod and forget about using the flash, your pictures will show much more of the real color. [tup][tup][tup]

[:O]…Gosh! That is very nice work, I am in awe of the level of detail you got into that engine, in that scale.[bow]

My only criticism is that some of the weathering on the airframe is a little heavy for my taste, apart from that its a very fine build indeed.[tup]

Gentlemen,

Thank you all, you are too kind by far. The reason there is only one picture is the same as there is only one kit, my photographic skills are such that I coudn’t carry Bob Capra’s luggage! LOL.

The kit was built for the South Pacific GB. In my reading on the theatre it impressed me that the fight was just as much against the elements as the enemy. So, the kit reflected this struggle, perhaps a bit too much.

However (even though it does not show) I was able to pull off faded panels using pastels and an artist’s blending stump.

Great looking Jug Joe! [tup][tup] Lot’s of time and effort must have gone into that and it shows.
