It has been a while since I posted here, hope everyone is doing well. So the “super detail” project on the 1/72 T’bolt is finished. It was fun and challenging, I know it improved my skills. But I will not be doing another for a while, back to the OOTB. But, I was considering using this as a diorama centerpiece. Other than Preiser who makes a 1/72 US ground crew?
I left some of the details off because either they were beyond my meager skills, too small or a combination of both. The carpet gremlin got one of the resin gun sprues so that is why the starboard bay is empty. The sludge did get away from me in some areas, reference around the tail[banghead], and the canopy frame still needs a little flat coat.
It is the Aires detail set of PE and resin. One strange thing was there were no bulged tires(?!?). By the way the gun sleves are not white, matte aluminum, the camera flash made them look white.
Sheesh joe!! where have you been? haven’t seen you post in ages.
That’s a great looking Jug there Joe. I’ve always liked the looks of the Razorback over the bubble top. 1/72 scale PE!!..Oooooh! my eyes! I really like the open cowl and gun bays and You’ve done a great job! The only thing I’d add is to dirty up the engine and gunbay to match the weathering you applied on the airframe. Still…that’s a great looking model.
Jerry, I have been caught up with work issues, you know this thing called a real grown up life. I was going to bang up the engine and bays, but after my stumble with the sludge I got cold feet.
Wow, and you call your skills meager ??? That is a great model you’ve got there, can’t say it’s pretty though, the Jug just isn’t my kind of plane, but you made a heck of a model.
One advice though, nothing to do with your build, but use a tripod and forget about using the flash, your pictures will show much more of the real color. [tup][tup][tup]
Thank you all, you are too kind by far. The reason there is only one picture is the same as there is only one kit, my photographic skills are such that I coudn’t carry Bob Capra’s luggage! LOL.
The kit was built for the South Pacific GB. In my reading on the theatre it impressed me that the fight was just as much against the elements as the enemy. So, the kit reflected this struggle, perhaps a bit too much.
However (even though it does not show) I was able to pull off faded panels using pastels and an artist’s blending stump.
