I am considering adding this kit to my unbuilt kit stash (humor there):
Is anybody familiar with it? Just wondered if the decals are an issue like other Academy kits and if I should shop for an AM set? Twobob’s has several great possibilities in their Bargain page.
Jim, I built it earlier this year as test piece for several untried techniques, I didn’t get as far decaling before donating it to the kids.
Build wise? Most parts went together fine, some alignment probs, nothing major, par for the course academy really. I did have trouble getting the engines to stay glued on. Don’t know what was up there. All up standard Academy 1/72.

I prefer the Italeri kit but the Academy is also a good kit. Definitely go with AM decals.

I built this kit about 3 years ago and was pretty impressed with the details and panel lines (it was the first Academy kit i’d built).
However, i did have trouble with the decals - very very fragile, but i ended up getting them all on. Some minor tears etc, but got through it in the end.
I would also recommend some a/m weapons - try the Hasegaway Aircraft Weapons 1 set. The kit provided weapons are extremely bland and, in my opinion, really let the rest of the kit down.
