Im aircrew on the mc130j and trying to build an afsoc bird but for the life of me, i cant find a decal set to represent one. they are really plain, just “afsoc” and the tail number on the tail, a few stars and bars and the tail number by the nose. does anyone have a lead on where i can get some?
There used to be an old Microsacle sheet for AC-130s, but that was long ago. I’m sure it’s out of production now.
Your best bet will likely be to get some generic USAF number/letter decal sheets in the appropriate colors and size, as well as the National insignia.
Draw Decals makes several sets of C130 markings in scales ranging from 1:200 up to 1:48. While they don’t have something specifically for your AC-130 or MC-130 birds their sets do include walkway markings, door marks, stars and bars, and enough numbers that you could piece together almost any tail number you wish
These are air guard marks but you can see what you get. You might want to check out the Tennessee Air Guard sheet, you should be able to hack AFSOC out of the alphabet. Cut a leg off an E to make an F, cut the abr off the G to make a C, use a numeral 0 for an O
These decals are sort of delicate. You will need to clear coat them before use to protect against scratches and since the decals are printed on a single piece of decal film, you will need to trim closely to the part
