1/700 Trumpeter USS Iowa/NJ proper grays??

Hi,

I recently picked up a Trumpeter 1/700 Iowa and New Jersey on the cheap from Hobby Lobby. I’ve never built a ship kit before but I’ve always liked the Iowa Class BBs for some reason.

My question is this: what are the proper grays to use for the paint job? The instructions on the NJ for example just give the #31 Gray and #32 Gray which doesn’t tell me a whole lot. Can someone direct me to the proper Model Master grays to use?

Both the Iowa and New Jersey are as-modernized. The hull and superstructure - to the level of the stacks - would be 26270 (MM Neutral Gray is 36270). Masts above the stacks would be black. Steel decks are Gunship gray. Wooden decks are teak
