1/700 Fleet, 14 of 'em

The title pretty much says it all. I think these crazy little monsters took as much effort to build and paint as 1/72 or 1/48 scale.

The whole fleet:

Starting at the top right and going clockwise, B-1A #4, B-1A #1, B-1B in Euro I and B-1B in dark gray.

L-R, AC-130E Spectre and C-130E trash hauler, both Viet Nam era.

L-R, C-141B Star Lizard & C-141B Star Lifter

L-R, B-52G with ALCM cruise missiles from Griffiss AFB, New York 1980s & B-52G from Beale AFB, 1968

A pair of U-2R Dragon Ladies & a pair of SR-71A, all from the 9SRW, Beale AFB, CA

That is a impressive collection of 1/700 scale aircraft.

Yes the effort is a unique challenge considering the size of the subjects, yet due to the parts count I would not go as far to say as much effort as a 1/72 scale or 1/48 scale aircraft, unless of course you modeled them with resin cockpits or taking the whole group to compare to one larger scale aircraft.

OMG, those are SOOOOO tiny! And I thought my 1/144 were small, those things look small enough to inhale and not even realize you did it until some come up missing. Well done!

Yardbird where in the world did you find 1/700 scale non-naval aircraft? I can get Navy birds all day long for carrier kits, but I had no clue land-based craft were out there…

Please tell me.[:D[

Evil Bay!!! There are four kits that show up from time to time, two B-52G and 4 B-1B; two B-52H and 4 B-1A; actually the same plastic with different decals, then the two C-141s & two C-130s. Finally, the U-2 & SR-71s .

Well done Darwin…!! Even though they are teeny tiny, they are nicely detailed…!! So saying that you have a small collection of C-130’s , B-52’s, B-1’s have a whole new meaning now huh???

Nice thing is, you could have a stash of 200-300 of these kits, and only take up half a shelf…

I would be constantly whacking the planes with a fly swatter thinking something was crawling across my shelf.

I can’t believe how good they look for the scale. Nice.

Ah, yes, my favorite scale - for ships! Which is why I may never, ever, do another aircraft carrier - the air wing. Try hand painting and decaling 37 of these little guys, and I didn’t go whole hog like some do:
