1/6th scale scratchbuilt T-70 tankette project.

This is my current project. It is a scratchbuilt 1/6th scale Russian T-70 tankette. I’ve been working on it since early March of this year. Progress has been steady but, most of the last month has been consumed with learning how to cast resin track links. The hull is made from 3mm MDF with most of the rest, fenders, vents and grills is 1mm sheet plastic. I’ve learned much in starting this first large scale scratchbuilding project.

Progress so far.

Earlier shot with riders.

This T-70 will eventually be the centerpiece in a lagre scale diaroma with about ten to twelve German tank riders, the assumption being that the tank was captured, based on a photo in one of the Squadron/Signal books. If you’ve ever thought about scratchbuilding but were put off by messing about with tiny little parts prehaps give large scale a try.

Thanks for looking.

Awesome! I designed the 1/76 SHQ kit. This is somewhat WAY more impressive, though!

Excellent looking work Dan. I better stay with 1/35 scale though, a couple of those and I’ll have to rent another apartment just for them.

thats looking sweet, keep up the good work !

Very impressive, very nice work so far.

I’ll never complain about my scratchbuilds again! Great work. Keep posting your build phases for us.
