Hi Ya’ll
I was was in wal-mart with a buddy of mine yesterday and saw the most peculiar thing…
A 1/6th scale radio controled stuart. So being the die hard modeler that I am…I said to myself…myself…I can do something with that. So I barrowed 20 bucks (what are friends for) and put that sucker on layaway. I did take a quick peak in the box and it look like a good representation. I figure I’ll drive it till I break it then start re-detailing it to make a really interesting conversation piece. You could probably used this thing as a garden tractor, it runs off a 12 volt rechargable motorcycle battery. WEEEE[:p]
I have one in the works right now, cutting it apart, detailing the interior… not something you do overnight. It’s turned into a ‘one piece at a time when I feel like it’ project, but I have some great photos of it if you’re interested I’ll try to download them to Ron’s site.
I saw the same thing when i went to Wally World the other day. The only difference between that one and the one i saw is that it had the hedgerow on it. I looked at my girlfriend with the [:(] look on my face and she said dont even think about it. LOL cant blame me for trying.
Ron,
Does that thing actually work all that well as an R/C ? I would like to play with it a little before I start cutting it up…[:D]
Sure if you have any pictures of what you are doing by all means share with the class… Any inspriation would be great. I think it would make an interesting piece… Remaking it would be a challenge but worth it I think.
Mine wasn’t radio controlled…so I just had the ‘static’ model. It’s about as accurate as the Tamiya M5A1… maybe even scaled after it. So it looks pretty cool, but I’m redoing the 37mm and a lot of other parts to make them look much better. Pain in th’ butt for most of them! That’s why it’s taking so long.
Sorry to keep y’all waiting[zzz][zzz], but it took me a while to load these onto Ron USMC’s web page. These are some photos of the 1/6 scale Stuart work I’ve done.
Holly cow man… thats awsome…
I don’t think I am gonna build the interior… Just detail the outside. I bet that will be a sight when its done…some time from now[:D] Keep chuggin though. I saw a cool article in FSM years back, a guy built a 1/9 scale stug III from scratch. The way he talked he had to do about everyting several times and it took him like 12 years to build. So take heart…
I just got to figure out how to pay for mine now…[%-)]
Thanks all! I do a bit of work now and then on it. I’m trying to get up the courage to make the transfer case assembly. Need a few more measurements off the real thing first.
They put out some really cool products. Has anyone seen their 1/32 scale Tiger and Hanomag. Dare I say they make planes also. Where were they when I was a wee lad?
