1/6 Scale Model Techniques?

Greetings,

My brother collects 1/6 scale military figures and I would like to build the new Dragon 1/6 scale Firefly Sherman for him (seen on the inside back cover of the February 2014 FSM).

Does anyone have any tips or techniques for painting, detailing or weathering such large kits? My experience has been mostly 1/35 armor and 1/48 and 1/32 aircraft.

Buy a lot of paint !!! Seriously,same techniques on a bigger scale.Check out this forum,might pick up some tips
