1/6 Fantasy Warrior Jehn WIP

Project that I have been working on and off for a little bit that I am finally getting around to posting some info about. To start this is a 3D print sculpted by Luis Donaldo Meza named Jehn from his Fantasy Warriors line of figures.

This is the render of the figure:

While I do plan to encorporate some of the color elements from the render, I will be doing my own thing to a degree.

So here she is printed out and with some of the initial work done already, I did say this was something I had been working on for a bit. So for I have filled the parts that I printed hollow, done to both save on resin and make it easier to print, and started getting the base joined. Now one issue that I encountered, as I printed this when I was first starting to 3D print things was the connector parts. I did not support then female sides, this resulted in them printing flat and needing to be opened up and remade once I filled them.

Here you can see the first round on one of the legs. Most of the shape was formed but some areas were missed, was a little too conservative with the bondo and did not use enough. Easy fix though, will just add some more and that will finish the shape of the female end and just require some minimal clean up work from there.

The base had a a similar issue, however I have left it open for now as I am going to pour the resin into this hole to fill the cavity in the base. I needed to both attach the base halves and fill the drain holes on the bottom. There was also a small bit that split during printing that also needed to be sealed before the resin filling could be done.

When doing the test shots I also noticed a miss print in the back of her hair that I will also need to fill and then re-sculp the hair into it. Beyond that though am off to a good start on this project.

That figure looks amazing! The detail is so refined & delicate. I can’t wait to see the "spin’ you’re going to put on it. It reminds me of a character from one of Frank Frazetta’s works.

Nice print, it came out well. Are yours pre-supported or are you adding your own supports? Which brings to mind, what slicer are you using?

I use both Chitubox and Lychee depending on what format i recieve the files in. I use the pre-supported as a base and add on as needed. Hece why i like getting files in their native formats and not as a presupported stl file.

Have you seen the new “Red Sonja” figure kits coming out from X-Plus Models? Now that figure reminds me a lot of a Frank Frazetta illustration and of your Jehn figure.

Talk about a coincidence, FSM in their Show Gallery photos has a photo from the NNL West Show of a guy’s 1970 Ford Econoline Custom Van and it has a Frazetta mural airbrushed on its side of the “Death Dealer”. Your Jehn would look so good airbrushed on a custom van as a mural.

Small update today as been busy with things.

I filled the base and did the first round of cleanup. I then drilled out the space for the foot peg to go into. Will look at getting the putty application for that done this weekend.

That base should look good when it’s completed. Those cracks between the large rock slabs will be perfect for a wash or vegetation. It’ll surely add to the figure’s dynamic pose & presentation.

Got the base part cleaned up and rough placement on the base. Need to stain the base before continuing. After that i can use some air dry clay to build up the land form. I also plan to add additional rocks to fill in the space.

Got the base stained and 2 coats of urethane on. I also started to do some dry fitting of additional rocks for when i add the air dry clay. For niw going to give it another day or so to let the urethane fully cure.

The base is coming together and looking good.

So plan A, the plan to use aur dry clay to build up the land form did not work. Could be because the clay i have is a little too old, but it just did not work. So i pulled it off and put it all back in its bag and moved onto plan b. To give the base a little more height i added a foam riser to it. From here it was a matter of adding my favorite paper mache that i get from hobby lobby and sticking the rocks into this mixture.

That being done its going to need a day or two to dry and set up. Might hit it with some hot air from a hair dryer to speed it up a little, but for now it is a waiting game.

Started work on laying down the zenthil pattern on the figure portion. This will serve as the main base to build up the skintone.

As an added note, the base is still a little damp. Have had some overcast the last couple of days so it is taking longer to dry. Should be ready for paint this weekend.

Next stage of the skin tone, building up the base color using very thin paint. This is my first time trying this technique, and i also dont normally use acrylics save for brush painting. That said we are making progress, but still have a ways to go.

A quick assembled shot showing progress before taking her to my local IPMS meeting. For those who might be wondering my plan is to most of her outfit somewhat sheer, with skin partially visible through it. Might keep her clevage full exposed though as well as her shoulders and upper back.

So tragedy struck, the table she was on got bumped and she fell. I am going to have to reprint her head, torso, and a arm.

So after taking some time to look at the damage I have come to the unfortunate decision to bin this model. Was building this to enter into my local IPMS contest and at this point there is no way with what all I have on my plate right now I will be able to get the parts reprinted, prepared, and even painted back to the state that I was at.

Rats. So sorry to hear of your misfortune.

Chin up,
Mark

Oh Man, I feel so badly for you. This project was looking awesome and really progressing along. Good Luck with the reprint when you have more time to deal with it.

She is now in the bin, as there is no point in continuing. With what all i have on my plate getting her done in time for the contest was doable, might get a little tight at the end but was doable. Now, even getting back to where i was, assuming everything prints right the first time, would be a challenge.
