1/48th Prowler/Intruder availability question...

Why is it that there currently are no companies producing A-6 Intruders and EA-6 Prowlers in 1/48th scale? I know that Revell-Monogram made them at one point but has since discontinued them. Why was this kit line ended? Surely these companies must see the high demand for these older kits (on eBay and whatnot). Are there any plans for a reissue or completely new kits from anyone?

A re-release of the monogram would be nice, as long as they fix the flaws in the original EA-6B, raised detail, incorrect wings, poor fit, poor detail in pit etc… I have one in my stash and am itching to get going but the work is putting me off, I am going to wait till my skills are up to the task. I have bought the Black Box resin pit and am considering a full resin wing fold set eventually.

A new tooling from tamiya or trumpeter in 1/48 would be welcome as well.

I did notice a while ago a 1/32 Intruder kit on its way from Trumpeter, although this seems to have evaporated! [BH]

Doesnt ESCI still make a A-6E in 1/48 scale?

I think that one is discontinued as is the Airfix EA-6B (For now anyway)

I just picked up the 1/48 Monogram EA-6B at the local hobby shop for 27 bucks. Box was in mint condition. I coudn’t beleive my luck!!!

They’re out there.

I stumbled across a Hasegawa (may be a Revell re-box or vice versa, both company logos are on the box) 1/48 A-6 during my time on Okinawa in a local shop. Went right home and grabbed up all the loose yen I could find and raced back to get it before it disappeared! It’s still waiting in my stash for me to build it. I’m thinking of getting a wing-fold set for it, but who knows?

From what I heard, thru the grapvine, Revellogram is supposedly going to re-release the Prowler/Intuders sometime this year. Doubt that it will be new tooled though…same kits with maybe new decals…This may explain why Cutting Edge came out with seamless intakes for them

I hope, I hope, I hope! I built the old R-M 1/48 Intruder in the late 80’s and wasnt that bad a kit to build. I really liked it, I hope they do re-release it.

Air Master

I am working on one now…

I had a great time building the kit, inaccuracies and all. I used a Eduard PE set for ICAP II interiorwith Verlinden seats on my EA6B. I used Microscale decals. Looks good, but its not up to the standard of my current work.

I have an A6e in my stash that I will build someday…
