1/48TH B-24 J Liberator finished Pics

Hi everyone after viewing so many gorgeous builds here , I decided to pull one
of my kits I had in storage for 2yrs , I hope you like the pics , I’m no pro builder
by any standard but after picking up some modeling tips here ,this is my final
result , the kit is the monogram b-24 J painted using model master paints, I scribed the panel lines and traced with a engineering pencil and weathered the
kit with pastel chalks , I wanted to give it a used look instead of a factory fresh
look

I’m no pro photographer so I hope the pics are ok , thanks for viewing my post !!

very nice, thanks for the pics

Nice to see another builder is not afraid to get down and dirty with a model. And I gotta hand it to you for having the courage to rescribe an entire bomber, I cant even do it with a fighter.

Very nice good clean build. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks fellas for the compliment reguarding the build , I enjoyed building this kit alot , it took me 5hrs to scribe the panel lines , but it was worth the effort , I like the finished product alot , I’m going to use this plane in a diorama I’m building I already built and painted the tow tractor that came with this kit , the shepard paine booklet was great to read too it showed a war weary b-24 which helped me with weathering ideas , total build time as approx 72 hrs .

Very nice Liberator. Good job ! Thanks for sharing.

Very striking model. i like the sharp contrast between the silver and yellow. The weathering is strong enough to see, but subtle enough to not look “overdone!” Great job.

Mmmm, very nice Lib mate. I like it. I’m also one of those people that can’t keep my head & hands out of the weathering pot! That’s why I like Russian Front German Armour!! Lots of mud and rust!!![:D]
Cheers,
John

Excellent job…Lionbaron…very nice work!

Boy, you hit a soft spot in my heart — nice job…

Lion,

Very nice job. I like the colorful paint scheme on that one. The weathering and scribing are nicely done too. One question - what are the black things on the top of the wings behind the inboard engines ?

I am just finishing up the D version of this kit. Mine’s in Olive Drab - I can’t even imagine rescribing it and then giving it a NM finish. That must’ve been a ton of work. Well done !

Chris

Looks like a great job. Nice work-

Thanks Modelnerd, Chris,Jim, Dan, John, Yardbird, Rick., and Mark for the kind words

That’s a beautiful Liberator mate. Very impressive work, thanks for sharing.

Chris to answer your question , the black objects near the inboard engines are fuel
vents ,according to the instruction sheet , painted flat black as indicated , also thanks
Daniel and Jason for the kind words I really appreciate it alot , glad to see you liked this build , thanks again for taking time to view my post !! Take care !!

Very nice looking build, Earl! Too bad you had to have it in storage for 2 years, for that work needs to be displayed.

Only 5 hours to scribe the whole plane!? That’s amazing. Did you scribe all the panel lines or just the major ones? What did you use? Just some questions because scribing is not my strong point (I have yet to discover ANY of my strong points in modeling!).

Again, thanks for sharing the pictures.

Mark

Hi Mark , I used a sharp scribing tool I had from my machine shop days as a aviation
machinist at boeing company, I scribed all the panel lines to give texture depthness to the appearance , then I used a engineering pencil to trace the lines and pastel chalk weathering thrown in for a added touch to help bring out the detail as well , I was able to do the entire plane panel scribe in 5hrs thanks to no interuptions from my dog or
fiance , you are quite welcome for the pics and thanks for viewing my post .

Looks great. Only issue I could fine was those pesky seams down the sides of the engine nacelles - those things are a real PIA. Liked the exhaust staining - not too overdone.

One great looking Liberator Earl, keep em coming, Bill.
