A recent post by Rob Gronovius reminded me of the old MBT-70 at Ft. Knox.
I may still have the Aurora kit in my stash and was wondering if any of the older builders might recall if the Aurora 1/48 armor was actually 1/48 or did they play fast & loose with scale like they did with the 1/48 biplane kits?
I’d like to build my old MBT-70 kit & eventually add the newer armor releases to go with my 1/48th aircraft .
If you look for an old (several years old) post by J-Hulk, he built up a couple of those that I sent him in Japan. One was OOB and the other was super-detailed. Compared to a 1/48 scale Abrams kit I had, the MBT70 was comparably scaled, but I did not measure either kit against any sort of plans, just eye balled it.
Thank you sir.
Your comment about comparing the Aurora kit with a 1/48th Abrams kit makes me want to build an Abrams kit as well as a comparison.
Though I just drove past an MBT-70 a few times, I don’t recall the it looking very massive.
