I really want to try to make a model of every plane used by VF-103, you might know them as the Jolley Rogers, but before 1995 they were the Sluggers. Now heres the problem, the first plane used by them is the F4U corsair, in which i have not been able to find decals for. Has anybody seen any? Are there any companies that will make them custom for a reasonable price?
If it’s 1:48 scale your probably going to have to mix various decal sets together. Superscale has 60degree 36" letters, for the aft fuselage or tail. Cam decals makes the various Navy insignia’s from 1943-47 (red outlined too), along with smaller letters and numbers. As I recall the “Sluggers” have that arrow pointing forward on the tail in some form or fashion, my only thought would be to make a stencil out of frisket or masking tape. Don’t qoute me on this but I remember seeing a Corsair kit in 1/48 with that arrow I think Tamiya maybe ? Not Sure ?
Thanks alot for the info, i was really dreading making my own decals, but I think ill be able to do it since that era wasnt very intricate with designs
