My next project is just about ready for paint, but I still need to figure out two problems:
The first is the total lack of clear or blue vision blocks. Suggestions in this area would be more than helpful. Hint hint! [;)]
The second I can work around until later, but I need to find an appropriate AA mg 34 and mount to put on the commanders cupola ring. In 1/48 scale. Yeah right.
I will post a couple of pics of the thing tomrrow to get some feedback from yous guys.
Looking at a color photo of the driver’s vision block on the Bovington Tiger I, it is perfectly clear. AFAIK, anti-glare lens coatings had not yet been invented. The old Zeiss camera I had from the '60s certainly did not have coated lenses. That said, I like to use iridescent plastic bits, cut from a piece of “Friendly Plastic” I found at Michaels Craft Store, for my vision blocks. It gives the impression of reflected light on glass, and in such small pieces, it makes the vision blocks look more interesting. Artists…Pfffffff. [:p]
As for the MG, go steal a MG 15 from some prop-head’s model. [(-D]
Seriously though, surely someone makes a 1/48th MG 34…don’t they?
I might have to venture next door to Michael’s later this morning and see what they have on the shelves.
I also thought I read somewhere about someone who used some ?melted? clear plastic of some sort for vision blocks of some kind. Anyone else heard of this?
I’ve been searching for some 1/48 german infantry weapons and can find squat. Funny how the kit’s sprue that has the figured on it has k98s but the kit has no MG.[xx(]
