1/48 Tiger I completed (pics)

Hi All…

I completed my Tiger I, today and would like to share some pictures. This kit was an enjoyable build, but not as enjoyable as the Sherman kit I built a few weeks ago, which was fun to build all the way through IMHO, (still the Tiger tank was an excellent build, but I’m a Sherman tank fan[:)]). After building these two kits, I’m thinking about trying Tamiya’s other line of 1/48 scale armor kits.

These two models will be used as visual aids for my Graduation project on WWII armor design/tank warfare coming up next week. I’m suppose to have presentation that will last for 10 minutes about the research I did on my topic. These two models will be the centerpieces of my project, pulse they help give the panelist an idea of what the two tanks actually looks like side by side, but in a smaller scale. Also they will understand why the Sherman death trap once I get into discussion.

Any comments on the model is ok.

Very well done! The weathering is very good.

Good luck with the project! I wish I could get assigned a project like that but I will keep dreaming! Is your project on just the western front? If its all WWII, then I think a t34 would be much needed.

Nicely done. I too used models as visual aids back in high school for certain projects.

Looks great to me, but you made one MAJOR flop, the turret mantlet is upside down!

Thanks all for your nice comments.

This project is mostly about armor design on the western front and battle tactics. All the seniors at my school are require to take Gradation Project to pass their lass year of High School. We are allowed to chose any topic we wanted, I chose armor design because had interest in it. Then we spend five months doing research and writing essays. So far, it’s almost over, and I’ll be happy[:D]…

Looks great to me, but you made one MAJOR flop, the turret mantlet is upside down!

Thanks alex for pointing that out, I will make the correction and post better pictures[:)].

Those are two great-looking models!

Fix the flopped Tiger mantlet, and you’ll be good to go!

nice weathering, good to see the 2 kits side by side. I just finsihed the Stug in the same series, and would recommend that kit.

You did a great job on them!

Looking great m8!
Please help me out though:

Duh?

Thanks for Sharing

Johan

Lovely weathering.

Did you encounter any problems? I’ve been fighting a few on my Stug IIIB, but none of them are much more than adding filler.

Grant

Thanks everyone for your nice comments

I didn’t encounter any problems with this kit, except for assembling the track links. This is my first time working with track links, so this was probably the main problem. Overall the kit is excellent.

BTW Here are some additional pictures I promise.
