Here are some pics of an early build of the Testors O-2 Skymaster.
This was an early attempt at seam filling with putty, as well as using an airbrush. Hadn’t gotten the hang of masking canopies yet. The main landing gear didn’t look right when installed (not sure if it was the kit’s fault, I could have royally messed it up) so I built it as a flying model.
The instructions said that you could use the side window decals as a guide to cut out spaces in the fuselage for the clear windows that came with the kit. This was a little too “out of my league” so I just put the decals on.
Here’s the underside. This was back when I gave my puttying technique one shot. That’s probably still my weakest area.
I weathered this using ground up pastels, mostly black and browns. The “whip” antennas are short pieces of nylon monofilament thread painted black.
Good job on the FAC. I have that one as well as their OV-10. I have been putting off building them for various reasons but now I’m going to have to brake mine out. I saw one that was black with two in white words on the top of the wing, “THE FAC”. I think I’ll do that one. Thanks for the inspiration.
Thanks for the kind words, fellers. Ikar01, I’ve built the OV-10. Not a bad little kit, but the interior begs for some detailing, what with that big ol’ canopy. I finished mine in an experimental (or so the instructions said) Marine Corps camo scheme that looked a lot better than the plain grey. I’ll take some pics of that and post them in a few days.
