Nice work Greg! I am anxious to hear how you like this kit. I want to build mine, but all of the ejector pin marks in the gear bays scares me off every time. [sigh]
Jets? You’re building jets? I go away for a while and come back to bizarro forum. I don’t remember you doing jets before.
Meanwhile, back in Massachusetts*, Greg is sitting at his PC about to pound into the keyboard… “You have some set of onions to point a finger at me. You… you… GRRR… TANK BUILDER.*
Of course you realize I don’t have a serious bone in my body.
No matter what you build, the quality shows. Great looking pit my friend
Marc, you should see my wife’s face when I told her I am going to build a Jet [:)]. Besides that I am building a MIG-9A same time [:)] and a MIG-23MF is just waiting for my better mood (due to a lot of work with repanelling, Italieri kit is wrong big time)
I do not know how you guys are dealing with PE parts, but for me it is a nightmare … [}:)]
[(-D] Now that’s some funny stuff! Greg, that resin looks beautiful! Can’t wait to see this one taking shape. Most of the photos I have seen of the Polish F-16’s show them with the conformal fuel tanks. Does this one have them?
I know what you mean about the photoetch stuff. I have used very little of it myself. In fact, right now I am building a jet too (Did ya hear that Marc?) and the PE cockpit parts are very nice, though some are not very easy to use. I sure do think it will make the cockpit look better though! [tup]
So, the cockpit is done, however, after I painted theseat, I received an info from friends in Krzesiny (Polish Air Force Base with Vipers) and the seat is a bit diferent than provided by Tamiya [:(] oh, well … here is my version:
some reference photo:
… if I would be able to remove seat belts and cover the seat with a similar material …
Looks good so far, Greg! I just finished the 'pit on mine…a joy to build, especially after dealing with all the ejector pin marks in the main gear bays. All of those suckers took me two modeling sessions to eliminate.
I will post pictures from my work, however, I have to get a new seat [:(]. The Polish Vipers have a bit diferent cockpit and I am getting first hand data on this. Oh, well… what has to be done, has to be done. I put this project on the shelf for time being and as soon as new seat will show up, I will continue with thisbuild. I also plan to share all references for each one of you who wishes to build Polish Viper [:)]. Few more days …
first the most important is a seat. Diferent fabric/cover - looks like a sheep skin. Also the headrest is a bit diferent but I do not have details yet. Those will be available within the Week to ten days. I am going to get pictures from the source [:)][8-]
Also the equipment in the cockpit supposed to be a bit diferent. It is worth waiting and get it right.
