1/48 Spirit of St. Louis by Revell

This is a fantastic little kit that I give 2 thumbs up. It was a pleasure to build; everything went together so well. I loved the extra touch of Revell to include the door as a separate piece to pose open or buttoned up, and a nice decal for the instrument panel. I didn’t use it as I wanted to make my own panel and gauges. As a bonus Revell includes a separate sprue of Charles Lindberg as a standing figure or seated.

This is a huge improvement of the old Glencoe version of which mine flew into the wall and broke apart.

Revell has hit a home run with such an iconic and historical aircraft. I hope you enjoy the pics as much as I enjoyed building it.

Steve,

I’d like to see your Spirit, but I can’t get to your photobucket by the links you provided.

If you go down and click on the pencil icon at the bottom of your post (Edit Post), you will be able to edit your post.

Click on the “insert image” icon and put your URL in the field provided. Hit “insert” and that should do it. If not try a different link associated with your picture. Photobucket gives you 4 and I don’t remember which one it takes (I use ImageShack now)

I’m looking forward to seeing your build.

If you still need some help, yell out.

What an awesome build! I have seen the kit on the shelves of my local hobby shop but, as of yet, I have not snapped it up. Seeing how great your kit turned out, I just might make this my very next purchase. I love those Revell kits and it’s great to see someone doing such a good job with one.

There you go Steve,

That looks fantastic man, great detail in the cockpit! [Y] I"ll have to add this kit to my stash.

Thanks for posting the pics and sharing.

Steve

Very nice! Will have to pick this kit up.

Mike

This is terrific. A nice build of an uncommon subject.

Nice!

This kit was one of the first where Revell used their new molding technology- it is a wonderful kit, well worth building.

Nice build of an often overlooked kit. I really liked how they supplied the engine-turning on the nose pieces as decals that look quite good.

All the more reasons for me to find/buy that kit. Very nice!

What kit number is this? The one in my stash is 85-5244. Your build is outstanding!

Very nicely done!

Looking at the nose and prop spinner - are those decals or molded parts?
